Madavg comes under Chaupal tehsil of Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. Madavg is located at a distance of about 83 kilometers from Shimla city. This entire area is dependent on apple cultivation and 100-year-old Royal variety of apple fruit plants are still present here.
Prem Dogra, Pradhan of Madavg Panchayat, said that there are 7 wards in his Panchayat, in which more than 480 families live. Here all the people are dependent on apple gardening for income and every year every family here earns more than Rs 75 lakh by selling apples.
Prem Dogra said that the Royal variety of apple of this area is famous all over the world for its taste and excellent shelf life. Even today, 100-year-old Royal variety apple plants are present in this village. Apart from Royal, more than 50 varieties of apples are grown here on a large scale.

According to the Panchayat Pradhan, Madavg Panchayat is located at an altitude of about 9000 feet above sea level and the soil here is very suitable for apple production, due to which the gardeners here are able to earn good money by selling special varieties of high quality apples.
He told that if the special Royal variety of apples here is stored properly for even a year, it does not spoil and there is no significant change in its taste, juice and sweetness. This is the reason why there is a lot of demand for apples here in the country and abroad, due to which the gardeners get good price and profit for their produce.
