Officials from the military Ministry claim that the introduction of INS Vindhyagiri will strengthen India’s military industry, reducing the country’s dependency on foreign suppliers, developing self-sufficiency, and building a strong defence industry.
The warship manufacturer in Kolkata was hired to build the Navy’s third and final stealth frigate as part of the programme. Before being given to the Indian Navy for commissioning into service, the cutting-edge ship will be outfitted with the newest technology and put through rigorous testing.
According to the Narendra Modi-led union government’s vision of a “AatmaNirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India), more than 75% of Project 17 A’s orders have been given to domestic companies, including MSMEs and ancillary sectors.
President Droupadi Murmu emphasised the importance of Vindhyagiri during the ceremony. He expressed his hope that as INS Vindhyagiri sailed with unwavering determination and upheld the values we cherish, it would draw strength from the very mountains it was named after.
